Quick answer

To ship a Copart or IAA car to Miami for export, book transport from the auction to your shipping agent's warehouse in the Miami export warehouse area, with the warehouse's address, contact and receiving hours. Price depends on distance, car size and whether it runs. In October 2026 our calculator priced a 2020 Toyota Camry at $127 from Copart Miami Central and $286 from Copart Orlando South. Delivery inside the port terminal itself needs a TWIC-carded driver, which adds $150.

Where are the export warehouses around Miami?

Miami is the main US gateway for shipping cars to the Caribbean and Latin America. Most car exporters and shipping agents run their warehouses west of Miami International Airport, in areas such as Doral, Medley and Hialeah, where cars are received and loaded into containers for PortMiami or Port Everglades.

Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, about 25 miles north, handles containers and roll-on, roll-off ships, where cars are driven aboard. Roll-on, roll-off usually needs a car that runs, so non-running auction cars normally go in a container.

Most export cars go to a shipping agent's warehouse near the port, not into the terminal itself. If your car must be delivered inside an ocean port terminal, the driver needs a TWIC card (the federal ID for port access), and there is an extra $150 fee.

Which Copart and IAA yards ship to Miami?

Most cars shipped to Miami come from Florida yards, from Miami and Fort Lauderdale up to Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville. Buyers in Georgia and Alabama also send cars south when their shipping agent loads in Miami or has the better rate to their destination.

We collect from every Copart and IAA yard in the lower 48, so the right destination is whichever port your shipping agent loads from, not the one nearest the auction.

What does the driver need to deliver to an export warehouse?

When you book, give us:

  • The warehouse name and full address, as the shipping agent gave it to you
  • A contact name and phone number at the warehouse
  • Their receiving hours, and whether they need an appointment
  • Any booking, reference or customer number they want on the car

Export warehouses are businesses with set hours, not open lots. If a warehouse is closed when the driver arrives, refuses the car, or needs a booking that wasn't made, the driver may have to wait or come back, and those charges fall on the order. Getting these details right at booking avoids it.

How long does it take to ship a car to Miami?

First the car has to be collected: that depends on the yard, how fast your payment clears and when we get the gate pass PIN. Once it's on the truck, typical drive times are:

DistanceTypical time on the truck
Up to 500 miles1 to 2 days
501 to 1,000 miles2 to 5 days
1,001 to 1,500 miles3 to 6 days
1,501 to 2,000 miles4 to 7 days
2,001 to 2,500 miles5 to 8 days
Over 2,500 miles6 to 9 days

Averages once the car is picked up. Weather, yard queues and the carrier's other stops can move them.

Our storage commitment

If we haven't picked up your car within 5 business days, we pay the auction storage charged for every day after that until pickup. The 5 business days start on the latest of three dates: the day you order with us, the day your auction balance reaches $0, and the day you send us the gate pass PIN (where the auction uses one). It doesn't apply to weather events, sublot or off-site cars, auctions that are hard to reach such as rural yards, delays the auction causes, or wrong lot or gate pass details. Send us the auction invoice within 30 days of pickup and we reimburse it. Full wording is in section 7 of our Terms.

What happens after the car reaches the warehouse?

Your shipping agent takes over. They load the car into a container or book it on a roll-on, roll-off sailing, file the export information in AES and present the title to customs at least 72 hours before sailing. The usual hold-up is the title, not the car, so chase it from the auction as soon as you've paid. Our guide to exporting a car from the USA covers the paperwork.
